Uber’s Big Order: Halifax Driver Offers $ 825 McDonald’s at Wedding

A Uber Eats driver in Halifax got the order of a lifetime Saturday night: $ 825 fast food.

The guests were newlyweds who wanted to offer their guests a treat on a McDonald’s night out.

Steven Murphy, the delivery driver who made the delivery, says he didn’t even plan to make deliveries Saturday night.

“I decided to activate my alert to see if I could pick up an order. Then I looked at the order details and the order details said the customer had ordered 226 items, and I said, ‘Okay, this is definitely it can’t be real “.

Murphy then tried to contact Tyler McDonald, the groom.

In a voicemail, Murphy said, “I just got a wild, crazy order with your name on it.”

McDonald did not return the call, but Murphy went to pick up the order at Spring Garden Road’s McDonald’s anyway. He says he still wasn’t sure if the order, for a total of $ 825.41, was real.

“Four guys, plus me and my little Uber Eats bag, all fit in my Mini, thankfully.”

He was surprised to see that the order told him to deliver all the food to a wedding party on the second floor of Pier 21.

“It was real,” Murphy says. “I met the groom, briefly, and I left the food and they were as happy as the clams, and I got a little tip.”

The delivery was a “bright spot” on Murphy’s night.

“I’ve been falling lately,” he says. “My car is damaged, I have to repair it. And I’ve been looking at the idea, I’ve been trying to work to save and get an electric vehicle.”

Murphy admits that orders like this don’t arrive every day.

Kayla and Tyler McDonald, the newlyweds, on their way to Greece for their honeymoon, told CTV Atlantic they “want to eat at night,” and the order only made sense with a last name like McDonald’s. .
