Kyiv — Any ceasefire that allows Russia to hold on to Ukrainian territories occupied since the February invasion will only encourage an even wider conflict, giving Moscow a much-needed opportunity to rest and rearm for the next round, he warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Freezing the conflict with the Russian Federation means a pause that gives the Russian Federation a break to rest,” Zelensky said Friday in an interview with The Wall Street Journal at the heavily fortified presidential complex in Kyiv. “They will not use this pause to change their geopolitics or to give up their claims on the former Soviet republics.”
