Police have not disclosed the nature of the collision that closed Highway 17 for several hours
UPDATE: The Northeast OPP tweeted around 9:30 p.m. that Highway 17 between McKerrow and Nairn Center has reopened.
Manitoulin OPP tweeted around 3:30 p.m. that a collision had occurred in the area of the Spanish River Bridge. The highway was cut off for about six hours while police investigated.
While the road has been reopened, police have not released any new information about the nature of the crash.

OPP North East Region tweeted Sunday afternoon that an accident has closed Highway 17 on Sand Bay Road.
Manitoulin Ontario provincial police are currently at the scene.
The tweet also indicates that no detours are available and that the road will be closed for an indefinite period of time.
