The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the Richmond RCMP are investigating a shooting during the day that left two people dead on Saturday.

Shots were fired at block 7000 of Ackroyd Road in what appears to be a targeted shooting.
Clayton Burns was shocked by a burst of police and emergency vehicles that flooded the street as he dined at White Spot next Saturday.
“Paramedics pulled someone out of the apartment building on a stretcher,” said the 74-year-old Richmond resident.
“It looked like it could have been a corpse.”
Richmond police said the scene was “under control and well contained. There is currently no immediate danger to the public in this area. An update on the situation will be provided soon,” according to a press release. .

Ackroyd Road between No. 3 Rd. and Minoru Boulevard will be closed “in the foreseeable future,” police said.

The Richmond RCMP said police were called Saturday at 11:03 a.m. They believe the shooting was not “random”.
“Upon attending, Richmond RCMP front-line officers located two dead victims. Both were wounded by bullets,” police said in a press release. “Based on research theory at this early stage, it does not appear to be a random act.
“Police are currently in the process of collecting evidence, no further information will be provided at this time. The IHIT media relations officer will manage more details and availability of the media.
