It is confirmed that a 51-year-old motorist died in an accident on the A19.
The southbound A19 closed after a severe collision during rush hour on Wednesday morning.
The road was cut off by a serious accident from the A174 (Middlesbrough) to the A172 (Cleveland Tontine, Ingleby Arncliffe). The Inrix transit site reported queuing traffic for three miles.
The accident took place at around 8.00 am with the road being cut off due to the investigation into the accident. All lanes reopened at 2 p.m.
North Yorkshire Police are now calling on anyone who witnessed the deadly collision on Wednesday morning to provide information. They are encouraged to call 101, select the second option, and ask for Jon Moss; or alternatively send an email to jon.moss@northyorkshire.police.uk.
