A 2009 white Honda Jazz with the license plate S619AXE was stolen from Fourth Ave, Klemzig at around 7.45am (8.15am EAST) this morning, according to police.
Authorities shared a photo of a white Honda Jazz on Facebook and asked anyone to see the vehicle approaching.
Police say a man stopped with a stolen Mazda before getting into the car.
Authorities have now released images of the man believed to have stolen the vehicle and left with the child still in the back seat.
He is described as being about 20 years old, Caucasian, with dark hair.
The stolen vehicle was last seen driving towards Windsor Grove.
At around 9.30am AEST, an SA police spokesman told news.com.au that they were still searching for the vehicle.
Senior General Cullinan told ABC Radio that the theft appeared to be “random” at this stage.
“It looks like they threw a car and literally tried to grab another one, so there’s no indication that these people know each other,” he said.
Senior Officer Cullinan urged members of the public not to attempt to throw the car at themselves.
Anyone with information or who sees Honda should call police immediately at 131 444.
More to come.
