The third round of the U.S. Open at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, is scheduled to begin Saturday morning, and a tight qualifier should lead to a fun weekend for golf enthusiasts.
Collin Morikawa and Joel Dahmen sit al the top of the rankingtied at 5 for the tournament, followed by 21 players four shots from the lead.

Morikawa, who is looking for his third victory in a big golf course, shot a 66 on Friday, sinking five birdies with just one bogey a day.
A victory at The Country Club would be Morikawa first US Open victoryand would put him on a Masters victory to win all four major golf tournaments.

“I never set an age [the career Slam]. I never really thought about it. I just wanted to win golf tournaments, win majors and compete against the best in the world, and luckily I was able to do that, “Morikawa said, according to Yahoo Sports.

Dahmen, a relatively unknown, shot a 68 in the second round and enters the weekend ahead of big names like Rory Mcllroy, John Rahm and Scottie Scheffler.

Dahmen is the latest underdog, has survived a cancer diagnosis at age 20 and earned a spot at the U.S. Open through the final qualifier.
“I’ve always tried to be myself,” Dahmen said he said Friday at dusk. “My debut year here was not myself. I was trying to be a professional golfer, and that’s not me, per se. I like to be a little more relaxed and I like to spend a little more time, and I have my best friend by my side in Geno, it’s a lot of fun and it’s fun to be there.

“It’s a little weird how we are ourselves and we do it for everyone, it’s a little endearing,” he continued. “It’s very nice that people are rooting for you.”

Scheffler, the world number one golfer and winner of the 2022 Masters tournament, shot a 67 on Friday to take two chances from the leaders. Mcllroy and Rahm are both below the tournament, one behind Morikawa and Dahmen.

“I think it’s a testament to the health and state of this game,” Rahm said of the standings after his round on Friday, via ESPN. “It’s pretty amazing to see Rory on his back, it’s not like he’s ever gone anywhere. Obviously Scottie doing what he’s been doing all year, Collin doing what he always does, myself doing what I always try to do, like “It’s fun for everyone because we all want to compete against the best and beat the best.”
