US Open Golf 2022: First Round: Live!

Jordan Spieth continues to struggle and entertain to the same extent. After losing the green at par-tres sixth for a few miles on the right, for his fourth bogey of the day, he approaches 7 to 5 feet and rolls to the putt birdie. Only the only pair for Spieth in his first seven holes, and he has +2.

One of those birdie-pars mentioned at 15 for Rory McIlroy. He throws his starting shot at 15 in thick oomska on the right. Forced to step outside, he is left with a 15-foot drop putt to save his pair … and rolls it confidently into the center of the cup. This is his second good fight: he got into trouble on the 13th right, but found the front of the two-tier green and made a couple of two putts very trying. McIlroy is currently playing with the confidence of a man coming out of a final round of 62 and last week’s win at the Canadian Open.

Abraham Ancer finished in the top ten at the PGA last month. The 31-year-old Mexican will not be repeating his Southern Hills heroes this week. He has been forced to retire after falling ill, and Patton Kizzire will take his place. Rickie Fowler is the next taxi in the rank if anyone else retires.

Matthew NeSmith has no record in the majors. Well, that’s not entirely accurate – a missed cut at the 2015 U.S. Open in Chambers Bay, and that’s it for the 28-year-old South Carolina youngster. But he is now a joint leader. He is part of the second group that left early this morning, following the bird at 5 with another in the par-five 8th. Meanwhile, at the other par five in Brookline on the 14th, Xander Schauffele throws a ten-footer to go to -1.

-2: NeSmith (8), Morikawa (7), Henley (4 *)

It was a good start for Rory McIlroy. Four parts, from 10 to 13, on what some argue is the most difficult stretch of the course. McIlroy is paired with Xander Schauffele and Hideki Matsuyama. Schauffele, who has never finished below seventh in his five U.S. Open appearances, has equaled Rory shot by shot so far. Not so the 2021 Masters champion Matsuyama, who followed the birdie at 11 with a double bogey of three putts at 12. He has +1.

Jon Rahm has warmed up the putter. Birds attached at 5 and 6 years old, and like red numbers in no time. It has -1. The defending champion is happening today with Collin Morikawa; the Open champion leaves his starting shot at par-tres 6th short and straight, but comes out of the thick cabbage up to four feet, and steps on his pair. It’s a US Open, and more often than not, these babies feel like birds. He remains in a lead with Russell Henley at -2.

2015 champion Jordan Spieth is currently demonstrating the benefits of finding the fairway. He’s never been the most accurate since the tee, he hasn’t hit one yet and as a result he’s dropped shots at 1, 3 and 4. This week he’s going to need all his fighting genius, and he proves it, too, by going up and going down. from the sand to the short 5th par-four to throw back to +2. Spieth’s combined score for the last four rounds of the U.S. Open is +18. You’ll have to go a little to put a little on this surprisingly awful record today.

Henley is quickly joined at the top by Collin Morikawa. The reigning Open champion could be very dangerous here this week, with a premium approach game for Brookline’s often small, well-watched greens. The best iron player in the world birdies 2 and 5, and although they are the early gates, the ranking is already taking shape.

-2: Morikawa (5), Henley (3 *) -1: Buckley (7 *), NeSmith (7), Vick -a- (6), Scott (4), Muñoz (3)

Russell Henley is making his eighth appearance at the U.S. Open this week. The 33-year-old Georgia player has yet to finish in the top ten, but he tied the low fan in 2010 at Pebble Beach and enjoyed his best result last year at Torrey Pines with a tie at 13th. . Today he has started quickly, following the bird at the age of 10, almost sinking from 180 yards at 12. He takes advantage of a second bird and becomes the first man to reach -2.

Let’s start with the news of the current champion? It just seems right. Jon Rahm won last year’s event at Torrey Pines by leading two big left-to-right breakers on the 17th and 18th. his defense. Short fucks lost at 3 and 4, one for the pair, one for the birdie, and so far it has +1. The second foul was a particular embarrassment as he had sent a delicious short iron to 4, using the right-to-left slope of the green to gather his ball at four feet. That said, it was a downhill putt, and you don’t want to leave too much this week.

Preamble

Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either. But let’s not dare, as none of the players involved in the runaway tour are considered a particularly likely winner of the USGA flagship event. In fact, three of the top four favorites this week – Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and defending champion Jon Rahm – have been vocal in their PGA Tour defense, while the other – new Masters champion Scottie Scheffler. gave a little face to the new format. -Eye ahead of last week’s Canadian Open, noting that “maybe out of DJ,” he had “not really noticed anyone missing this week.” Ai!

The other guys need to be taken seriously. The Players and Masters champion is almost Cam Smith. FedEx Champion Patrick Cantlay. Sam Burns, three-time Tour winner this season. He’s in the Matthew Fitzpatrick form. Will Zalatoris, PGA runner-up. The two-time main winner Collin Morikawa. Hideki Matsuyama. Shane Lowry. I’m Sung-jae. Xander Schauffele. Toni Finau. Viktor Hovland. Jordan Spieth. The Sonics. The Sonics. The Sonics.

Brookline is mostly remembered these days for the 1999 Ryder Cup, Justin Leonard, the Ollie line, all of that. But it has hosted three previous US Open, won by Curtis Strange in 1988, Julius Boros in 1963 and, most famous of all, the amateur Francis Ouimet in 1913. An infused call of fame, right there.

Speaking of which, some of the big names are coming out soon. It will be a long day, so without further ado, here are the departure times for the first round. Choose your favorite and get ready for four days of great championship golf. Three-round confections with shotgun starts have nothing to do with the U.S. Open Championship, girl. It’s on!
