US stocks rose on Thursday, driven by gains in the S&P 500.
The broad index was up 1.3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.9%, about 292 points. The highly technological Nasdaq Composite Index gained 1.9%. Ten of the 11 sectors of the S&P 500 were recently green.
