Vancouver police officers are calling for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger while walking through downtown in early June.
The 26-year-old victim was walking near West Hastings and Hornby streets shortly after midnight on June 11 when an unidentified man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her, police said.
She managed to fight him and run away from the suspect.
The man, believed to be 40, was last seen running south on Hornby Street, police added.
“This woman did everything right. She fought her attacker, got to a safe place and called 911,” Const said. Tania Visintin said in a statement. “His swift actions allowed the researchers to obtain important evidence, including the video we are posting today.”
