Max Verstappen will not do Carlos Sainz a favor at Silverstone, the championship leader says he will not change his approach, which runs for victory.
Sainz will start the British Grand Prix on Sunday from pole position, his first F1 pole in a qualifying session.
But while he dreams of turning it into an inaugural race victory, the Ferrari driver has yet to climb the first step of the podium, Verstappen wants to continue his career and that of Red Bull.
The Dutchman will join Sainz in the front row of the grid, chasing Red Bull’s seventh straight win, and his seventh this season.
He sees no reason to hold back.
“The goal is always to score points and always, of course, as many as you can,” he said, “and so I’ve considered every race so far, so I don’t see why this race should be suddenly different.
“If I have the chance to go there, I will definitely go there. That’s how it goes in F1.
“There are still so many races where you have to add a lot of points to have a chance to win the championship.”

There’s a small chance of rain during Sunday’s grand prix, the forecast says 12 percent at the start and it will drop to less than 10 in the second half.
The teams have no real idea of their racing pace, their long distance races on Friday have also been limited by time.
“Everyone just did a long run of about four laps [on Friday]”Team leader Christian Horner told Motorsport.com. .
“If it becomes a completely dry race, the strategy and wear and tear of the tires will be crucial.”
Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko is confident Red Bull will be the fastest in race equipment.
“It’s hard to move forward here,” he told Sky Germany.
“We are in second and fourth place, so from a strategic and tactical point of view there is still a lot to do.
“I think we’ll at least be faster in terms of race pace.”
