Paul McCartney finished the second main day of Glastonbury 2022 by leading the Pyramid Stage (June 25), and ended his ensemble by inviting both Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen to the stage. Take a look at the pictures and setlist below.
The legend took to the stage after Noel Gallagher tonight, performing a stellar set of classics throughout his colorful career, including solo staples along with many numbers from his time with The Beatles and Wings.
After performing Fab Get’s ‘Get Back’, McCartney made a call to the Foo Fighters leader on stage.
“Now, I have a little surprise for you,” McCartney mocked, before inviting “your hero from the west coast of America: Dave Grohl!”
After a few light jokes from Paul’s offer, “Hello Dave,” before Grohl replied, “Hello Paul. How are you?” The couple then broke up with the Beatles ‘”I Saw Her Standing There” and Wings’ “Band On The Run.”
“This guy flew especially to do this,” Macca said jovially to the crowd, revealing how Grohl overcame flight cancellations from Los Angeles. That moment also marked the first time Grohl has appeared on stage since the death of his Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins in March.
When the crowd thought the surprises were over, McCartney said to the crowd, “We have another surprise for you,” prompting another guest “from the east coast of America.”
Then, to the surprise of thousands of attendees, Springsteen took to the stage with an enthusiastic response to perform his own Beatles’ ‘Glory Days’ and’ I Wanna Be Your Man ‘. This comes after the couple did the same in New York earlier this month.
“Are you kidding?” McCartney joked after addressing Springsteen. “Thanks for coming, man.”
After a virtual duet with John Lennon, McCartney and the band welcomed Grohl and Springsteen back to close the set.
