Wild weather has arrived in Perth on Monday, with rain already drenching the city before a strong cold front is expected to arrive this morning.
A severe weather warning is in place for the far south-west of the state with locals being advised to prepare now for the annual weather event.
A strong cold front is moving through the southwest corner of the state, bringing showers along the front, with westerly winds in its wake, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
And it won’t end there with a series of additional strong cold fronts expected across the southern state on Tuesday and Wednesday.

While the bureau’s official forecast predicts 20mm of rain will fall on Monday, 5mm of which has already reached rain gauges in just one hour between 5.30am and 6.30am, it also warns that “there could be heavy rain that exceed 30 mm/ha on the coast and in the vicinity”. interior parts of the warning area as of Monday morning.”

“Significant storms are possible in the front itself as it reaches the coast, as well as in westerly winds following the passage of the front.
“The potential for damaging winds and heavy downpours in showers and thunderstorms is likely to continue into Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Locations that may be affected include Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Geraldton, Katanning, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Merredin, Moora, Mount Barker, Narrogin, Northam and Perth.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has warned people to close curtains and blinds, stay indoors away from windows and unplug electrical appliances and refrain from using landlines if there is lightning
