Western Bulldogs have confirmed they are investigating images of Bailey Smith allegedly holding a small white dust bag.

Western Bulldogs have confirmed they are investigating images of star midfielder Bailey Smith allegedly holding a small white dust bag circulating on social media.

On Saturday morning, photographs of the 21-year-old began circulating on Twitter and other social media platforms, but it is unclear when the images were taken.

“Western Bulldogs are aware of Bailey Smith’s images circulating on social media,” the club said in a statement.

“The club is investigating the legitimacy of these images and is not in a position to comment further at this time.”

The AFL is also aware of the existence of the photos, which do not show Smith taking gunpowder.

There has been no confirmation of the substance.

Smith’s address has been contacted for comment.

Last week, Smith received a two-match ban after being accused of banging Geelong Zach Tuohy’s head in an AFL game at Marvel Stadium.

He was reported at the end of the third quarter of the 12th round competition after he appeared to intentionally hit Tuohy in the head during a heated confrontation.

Smith, who has represented the Bulldogs in 72 games since making his AFL debut in 2019, has left the game in late 2021 for mental health reasons.

Last year, the NRL issued notices of breach to Melbourne Storm trio Cameron Munster, Brandon Smith and Chris Lewis, which were seen in a video that appeared to show them in a room with white dust.

All three players accepted the sanctions proposed by the LNR, which include a one-match sanction and five-figure fines.
