Good morning people. It’s Friday, June 10, 2022 and Not E3 is officially up and running.
That’s right, we’ll relive a Kotaku Australia classic. Welcome back to While You Were Sleeping, Summer Game Fest Edition.
So last night was a lot. Put on the teapot, make some breakfast and I’ll tell you. Where to start?
- The live broadcast of Summer Game Fest 2022 began at 3:00 AEST and lasted three full hours. We have a hassle-free summary for you here and a full list of all the trailers that were posted during the show.
- Day of the Devs followed Summer Game Fest and was packed with some very interesting indies from around the world. Praise be to Tim Schafer and iam8bit for putting it on.
- Xbox Design Lab finally arrives in Australia and New Zealand (and they let Ruby design her own controller, a testament to her majesty here.
- Xbox also announced that it is giving a big boost to the demos of its Game Pass platform, along with the promise of five new exclusives on the platform.
- PlayStation accidentally leaked The Last of Us Part I, a basic remake for the PS5 coming in September.
- Neil Druckmann appeared at the Summer Game Fest to talk about TLOU Part I. While he was there, he confirmed a few other things: and that the original cast members Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker will appear on the TV series in some way. The two stars joined Druckmann on stage to talk about the new remaster and its involvement with the TV show.
- The Callisto protocol has a proper game trailer.
- Guile returns to Street Fighter 6.
- Marvel’s Midnight Suns also had a game trailer and made Spidey fight Venom just for fun. It opens on October 7th.
- Nightingale got a trailer about thinking with portals.
- Bloober Team finally announced a sequel to Layers of Fear (sorry, Silent Hill Truths)
- The live countdown to the Devolver Digital Marketing marketing countdown begins at 8:00 AM AEST (see our Not E3 Event Guide for schedules in Australia and New Zealand).
