According to a royal biographer, Meghan Markle felt blind when her 2017 Vanity Fair cover was released titled “She’s Just Wild About Harry”.
Author Tom Bower states in his new book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, the Duchess of Sussex was furious at how she was portrayed in the magazine.
According to excerpts from the book published in The Sun, Meghan angrily called her advertisers and asked them why their relationship with Prince Harry splashed across the cover of Vanity Fair.

Bower also claimed that Buckingham Palace was less than impressed with Harry’s mention in the interview, that Meghan just wanted to talk about her acting, activism and philanthropy.
“Meghan’s unprecedented brazenness took Buckingham Palace by surprise and electrified the British media,” Bower wrote. “Like a throne, the interview provoked sensational reactions: Meghan had used her relationship with Harry to promote herself.”
“The Hollywoodization of the royal family had sealed Meghan’s fate as Harry’s girlfriend.”
In the interview, when Meghan was asked directly about Harry, she replied, “We’re a couple. We’re in love.”
“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to introduce ourselves and introduce ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people understand is that this is our moment,” he added.
“That’s for us. It’s part of what makes her so special, that’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
Apparently, the Duchess of Sussex wanted the magazine to be on its own merit. (AP)

Meghan was also under strict orders from the royal family’s public relations team to avoid “sensitive” issues such as politics and race and, of course, Prince Harry.
Bower said Vanity Fair contributing editor Sam Kashner, who did the interview, addressed Meghan’s complaints after the magazine’s publication.
Kashner recalled, “She complained because they didn’t present her the way she wanted. She demanded the media do what she expected. I felt manipulated.”
Meghan’s public relations representative Ken Sunshine also told the editor of Vanity Fair that he should “get out with the queen on this,” the book states.
However, writes Bower, Sunshine was told that the royal future only landed on the cover story “because of who was likely to marry.”

Bower’s recently published book contains several other sensational statements about Meghan’s perception of the royal family, both before and after her and Harry’s departure from the monarchy.
Elsewhere in the biography, Bower claimed that the queen had a relieved response to learn that Meghan would not be attending Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021.
He said the monarch’s response to the news of Meghan’s non-attendance at the funeral was simply, “Thank God Meghan won’t be coming.”
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, it was said that Meghan was apprehensive about the publication of the book.
“This is the book Meghan will be afraid of,” the source said. “Tom doesn’t take his blows.”
