As the Star Wars celebration continues in Anaheim, it’s not just Star Wars fans who are getting the scoop. Audiences have just released a new trailer for Willow, the upcoming Disney + series that will be a sequel to the beloved 1988 fantasy film starring Warwick Davis. Now, get ready to return to the world of the fantastic world of Willow.
In the trailer, you see Davis reprise his role as the titular Willow, a sorcerer who (in the original film) tried to protect the prophesied child destined to become empress. In this epic trailer that introduces Davis as a now-repulsive sorcerer-hermit (sounds a bit familiar), a group of daring adventurers try to convince Willow to help them restore balance to their world. It is now confirmed that this is not an adaptation or remake, but a continuation of the original Willow film, starring the same character.
The Willow series will also feature a new character, Princess Kit (played by Ruby Cruz) as she tries to rescue her twin brother. Erin Kellyman (Solo and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Amar Chadha-Patel also star in an aspiring warrior and a small thief, respectively, who agree to help Kit save the prince. Willow will also star in Ellie Bamber as a “kitchen dominator,” as well as Tony Revolori and Dempsey Bryk.
Davis offered this behind-the-scenes stage tour with the cast last year, producing a very charming and delicious little feature film before the show premiered. At the time of this feature film, it was unknown at this time what he would do after leaving the post. (Of course, we now know that it is the centerpiece of the series.)
Willow is scheduled to release on November 30, 2022 at Disney +.
