Winds blow up the car shop on power lines in Calgary

Strong winds cut off electricity in northwest Calgary on Thursday afternoon and damaged vehicles after a tent was removed from its moorings.

“We had a little dust: we had a wind,” Timgl, CEO of Charlesglen Toyota, told Global News. “It looks like a plow wind that blew through, from all indications. And unfortunately it lifted one of our long tents and threw it like a springboard.”

These stores, originally designed to protect cars from hail, have been in operation since 2016.

The 50-meter-long tents caused damage to the surrounding infrastructure once it came out into the air.

“The best part is that no one was injured and we have little or no inventory. There are only four vehicles that look damaged. None of them (Charlesglen Toyota). Unfortunately, they are from our staff.”
