Progressive Conservative candidate Andrew Dowie has disrupted a nearly century-long trend of winning the Windsor-Tecumseh competition.
Here are the latest results.
Dowie defeated Liberal Gary Kaschak, NPD Gemma Gray-Hall and Ontario Party Steven Gifford.
“Together we got the highest provincial vote for a Conservative candidate on this circle during this century and I can’t be happier,” Dowie said.
Winning the seat, Dowie turned blue for the first time in 93 years.
For almost the past century, riding, under many different names and iterations of different boundaries, has been carried out by a Liberal or NDP member.
“To all the residents who have placed their faith and trust in me, I am here for you. I’m here to be your server to make sure our community is better, “Dowie said.” We’ll have the door open. You can talk to me. We may not agree all the time, but I need to hear what to say “.
Both the mayor of Windsor and Tecumseh had publicly endorsed Dowie.
Some of the issues the candidates addressed during the campaign included health, manufacturing, and education.
“I live in the suburbs. I work in the urban area. I’m well-rounded in terms of understanding the neighborhood,” Dowie said. “I’m looking forward to putting my teeth into almost every possible improvement we can find.”
