DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) — Someone in Des Plaines hit the $1.34 billion jackpot in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing.
It was purchased at Speedway #4250 on Touhy Avenue.
In a press conference Saturday morning, Illinois Lottery Department Director Harold Mays said the final numbers are still being worked out, but the actual jackpot grew from $1.28 billion to 1 .34 dollars from last minute sales. The winner can now opt for a payout of $780 million. It is the largest award ever won in Illinois.
The winning numbers are: 13 – 36 – 45 – 57 – 67 MegaBall: 14
“We still haven’t heard from the winner. We don’t know if they even know if they won the prize, so I encourage everyone to check your ticket,” Mays said.
The winner has 12 months from the draw date to claim the prize but only 60 days to decide on the cash option.
The owner of the Speedway will receive half a million dollars for selling the winning ticket.
Mays said there was also a $1 million winner in Illinois. This person purchased their ticket at SRB Food Mart at 1625 Taft Ave. in Berkeley.
“This is truly a gamer’s game, millions of people across the country participated in this game and made it so big,” Mays said. “Hearing all the players talk about what they would do and dream a little bit … We’re happy to play a part in that.”
Illinois State is also a winner. A portion of the millions of dollars in lottery sales goes to public education and special causes.
The next drawing is Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET, according to the lottery website.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

Mega Millions is sold in 45 states, Washington DC and the US Virgin Islands. It is played every Tuesday and Friday night. In the game’s 20-year history, 221 players have hit the Mega Millions jackpot.
