Watch for roadworks and lane closures on Hwy 97 at Leckie Rd. from Sunday 24 July until the end of August.

The work will be done overnight from 7pm to 7am on Leckie Rd. east of Highway 97 and is to improve capacity and safety.

Specific lane closures and work locations will change as work progresses and motorists should be alert to dynamic conditions and allow additional travel time during construction. Drivers are also advised to take alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.

The roads will reopen every morning and you can continue to access shops as usual during the day. Businesses can be accessed during night closures from Baron Rd. and Banks Rd.

According to the City of Kelowna, this intersection improvement project has been a collaboration between the City, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and Costco Development.

Improvements include: a double left turn lane from Hwy 97 southbound to Leckie Rd.? In order to add southbound capacity as well as a smart right turn lane to increase the safety of northbound right turns from Leckie Rd. on Highway 97 through a new bike lane extension. The bike lane on Leckie Rd. will be extended to Hwy 97 which will complete the bike lane on Leckie Rd. between highway 97 and the greenway.

The City of Kelowna plans to extend the bike lane to Dilworth Dr., which will then connect to the Okanagan Rail Trail.
