Apple’s World Developers Conference (WWDC) begins today with the traditional master class conference that begins at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time.
We look forward to seeing a number of announcements, including iOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16, though it’s unclear what else we’ll see at the event.
A redesigned MacBook Air tops the list of potential new hardware, but supply chain problems have created uncertainty about whether it’s ready to go. Apple’s online store is currently down before the launch for the first time since 2017, which could suggest that we can see some new hardware today.
Apple offers a live video streaming on its website, YouTube, and the company’s TV and developer applications on its platforms. We’ll also update this article with live blog coverage and post Twitter updates via our @MacRumorsLive account as the conference unfolds. Highlights of the event and separate news about today’s announcements will be posted through our @MacRumors account.

10:01 h: The current begins!

10:02 h: WWDC is designed to give this community what it needs to do the best job possible. We love to support our developers beyond WWDC with comprehensive world-class support and other initiatives.
10:02 h: Online Tech Talks introduced for live sessions and 1: 1 office hours between Apple developers and engineers.
10:04 h: Tim talks about developers and users. Now we turn to Craig.
10:05 h: Craig activates his watch and is transported to the lab, in the style of James Bond. This may be the highest transition Apple has ever made.
10:05 h: Starting with iOS 16 with a redesigned lock screen.
10:06 h: In iOS 16, we are achieving the biggest transformation of the lock screen.
10:06 h: new fonts, backgrounds, colors for the clock and date, widgets, direct control of certain applications.
10:07 h: Widgets Look Like Apple Watch Complications
10:07 h: Subtle depth effect with certain parts of the images sitting in front of time. Switch to different styles with color filters, backgrounds and fonts for the period.
10:09 h: When editing, you can tap an item and change the font and color. The widget gallery has several complications. You can shuffle photos, and “Suggested photos” includes selected photos from your own photo album. You can set up multiple lock screens.
10:09 h: A time lock screen shows the current time. One of astronomy shows the planet earth. Imagine the faces of the Apple Watch on the lock screen.
10:10 p.m.: Notifications arrive from the bottom of the lock screen as they are received.
10:10 p.m.: New notification called Live activities. It basically allows an automatic update notification that is on the home screen for live events such as sporting events or Uber travel.
10:11 h: New Focus Updates. It extends to the lock screen, photos and widgets can be linked to a focus. Relate lock screens to focus settings.
10:12 h: Focus can filter tab groups in Safari, conversations in Messages, and events in Calendar. New API also for developers.
10:13 h: Message Updates. Edit messages that have already been sent and undo the sending. Any thread can also be marked as unread.
10:14 h: Sharing with you is expanding. New Shared With You API for developers.
10:14 h: SharePlay to watch TV, listen to music, and use Fitness + with friends remotely. Adds a new way to add SharePlay experiences from an ongoing FaceTime call.
10:15 h: SharePlay reaches Messages.
10:15 h: Shared playback, but uses Messages to communicate with each other instead of live video.
10:16 h: Message dictation updates. Dictation is only done on the device thanks to Neural Engine. The new dictation experience on your device allows you to move smoothly between voice and touch.
10:16 h: When I start dictating, the keyboard stays open so I can switch between using voice and touch. I can even select text with Touch and replace it with my voice.
10:16 h: Now dictation automatically adds punctuation marks to text.
10:17 h: Created a new API App Intents, which allows shortcuts to work without configuration.
10:18 h: Live Text Updates. Now working on video. Pause a video and copy the text. Also live translations in the Google Translate-style translation application.
10:18 h: New live text API for developers.
10:19 h: You can automatically remove items from photos and drop them off elsewhere, such as a clever clipping of a dog in an image to copy and paste only the dog into a message.
10:19 h: Wallet updates are received.
10:20 h: Maryland and Arizona with electronic driver’s licenses. 11 other states will come.
10:21 h: You can share hotel digital keys with others, including future key sharing using an industry standard for Android users.
10:22 h: Contactless payments will allow merchants to accept payments on the iPhone itself. Apple Pay is expanding to new types of payments, including Apple Pay Later. Divide the cost of a purchase into four equal payments over 6 weeks with no interest or commissions.
10:22 h: Apple’s Buy Now Pay Later service New tracking of Apple Pay orders via Wallet.
10:23 h: Apple Maps Updates
10:23 h: New redesigned Apple Maps will reach 11 more countries, including France, Switzerland and New Zealand.
10:24 h: New multistop routing. Up to 15 pre-set stops. Recently saved routes. Plan multi-stop routes on your Mac and send them to your iPhone. Use Siri to add new stops to your route from CarPlay.
10:25 h: Transit updates, adding rates and the ability to use traffic cards. It will alert you to low balances and reload from Maps.
10:25 h: MapKit updates for developers, which allow you to integrate maps.
10:25 h: Look Around comes to MapKit, similar to Google Street View.
10:26 h: Developers will have faster and more flexible ways to access Maps, with server APIs coming later this year.
10:26 h: New updates for sports fans.
10:27 h: scores and game by game on the lock screen. But now sports are coming to Apple News.
10:27 h: New section called My Sports with results, schedules and rankings.

10:28 h: Family Sharing Updates.
10:29 h: Facilitates account management for children. Adjust age-appropriate restrictions and quickly set up other parental controls. Turn on a new device, place your iPhone nearby, and use Quick Start to set up a new device for children. You can approve message connection time change requests. Family checklist to update settings as children get older or to enable location sharing.
10:30 h: Photo Updates
10:30 h: ICloud shared photo library to share photos with families. An independent iCloud photo library that allows multiple family members to contribute and share photos.
10:31 h: You can set photos to be shared automatically directly from the camera.
10:31 h: You have the sharing switch turned on automatically if you take photos with your family members.
10:32 h: Content from shared libraries will automatically appear on smart albums and various widgets, just like your photos.
10:32 h: Privacy Updates
10:32 h: Protection of users’ personal safety, a new tool called Safety Check.
10:33 h: In abusive relationships, sharing passwords and placements can affect your personal security. Allows users to quickly review and restore access to systems with the emergency reset button. Stop sharing your location and reset system privacy permissions for all applications. It also protects access to messages by logging out of iCloud on all other devices. Restrict Messaging and FaceTime to the device in your hand. Restore sharing to certain applications and people.
10:34 h: Home and car updates.
10:35 h: There is a lot to manage at home. Smart home accessories can make it easier to control things from your iPhone. Turn off the lights or look at the door from your phone.
10:36 h: The smart home is still in its infancy. You want to bring these experiences to as many homes as possible. We have joined forces with other industry leaders to create a new connectivity standard called Matter. It allows smart home accessories to work together on different platforms. We have contributed to HomeKit as the basis for this new standard.
10:36 h: Dozens of leading brands have pledged to join Matter. It provides the basis for connecting smart home accessories and allows Apple to innovate.
10:38 h: The new Home app has been redesigned with new categories, design and more. Easier to set up and navigate whether the house is complicated, with many devices or just a few.
10:38 h: Updates are coming to CarPlay
10:38 h: Available in 98% of cars. 79% of American buyers would only consider vehicles compatible with CarPlay.
10:39 h: The new version of CarPlay will include support for controlling all vehicle systems, as well as dashboard groups and more.
