‘You don’t deserve that honor!’ Joe Biden criticized the delay in submitting new NASA images

The new images from the telescope, which cost £ 8.3 billion and were launched on Christmas Day, are the deepest images in the universe ever made.

The James Webb Telescope has been designed to see the slight infrared glow of stars dated to a few hundred million years after the Big Bang.

The preview event of the images was to be held at the White House at 17:00 EST (22:00 BST), however, enthusiastic spectators waited more than half an hour before any images were shown.

President Biden apologized for the delay in the revelation as he reveled in the surprise of the discovery.

He said: “Today is a special day.

“It is a new window into the history of our universe. The oldest documented light in the history of our universe, 13 billion years ago. It’s hard to even understand. “

However, many angry Twitter users visited the social media site to express their frustration with the delay.

User @KaijuSouth wrote, “He doesn’t deserve that honor [sic]. It’s absurd for this clown to introduce something of this importance. “

Another user @ tap836 tweeted, “Biden must have gotten lost on the way to the press room.”

User @ r1kkell added: “Soon? Delays pile up with #paterial delays [sic]. ”

NASA science mission leader Thomas Zurbuchen said at a news conference: “The images are being taken right now.

“There’s already an incredible science in the can, and more are yet to be taken as we move forward.

“We are in the midst of downloading history data.

“It’s very hard not to look at the universe in a new light and not just have a deeply personal moment.

“It’s an emotional moment when you see nature suddenly release some of its secrets, and I’d like you to imagine it and wait for it.”
