A 21-year-old man faces more than two dozen charges in connection with an investigation into the trafficking of an Ontario girl.
Toronto police said the investigation, which began in April this year, found that a teenage girl was allegedly abused on social media and sexually abused in Ontario and British Columbia between August 2021 and April 2022.
Police said the suspect used “a combination of deception, coercion and physical violence” during that time. They added that the money earned was given to the suspect.
On Thursday, police announced they had arrested a man in the Victoria Park and O’Connor Drive area linked to the investigation.
Police said officers confiscated a loaded firearm, a quantity of drugs and cash during the arrest.
The suspect, Andrew “Hot Boy Ryda” Pothiers-Grant, has been charged with multiple offenses, including assault, trafficking in persons under 18 for recruitment, two charges of financial gain / material / trafficking in persons under 18, two charges of child pornography. , and possession of a loaded firearm.
Police posted a photo of the suspect because they are worried there will be more casualties.
“The police want to encourage all affected people to come forward and report human trafficking to the police. We want to make sure everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to to proceed criminally ”.
