A Hanmer motorcyclist has died after a crash on Saturday night

Police are reporting a crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of Cote Boulevard and Chenier Street

The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck that claimed the life of a Hanmer resident Saturday evening. In a news release issued Sunday afternoon, police said 22-year-old Thomas Hogue, the driver of the motorcycle, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Police said the incident happened around 9:10 p.m. at the intersection of Cote Boulevard and Chenier Street in Hanmer. Members of the GSPS Traffic Management Unit, Rural Community Response Unit and Patrol Operations attended the scene. GSPS said the motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries. “Paramedics began life-saving measures for the male driver who was taken to hospital but unfortunately he was pronounced dead,” the police statement said. As well as identifying the Hanmer resident who died in the crash, police issued a statement of condolences to his family and friends. “The collision investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact our Traffic Management Unit at 705-675-9171 Ext 2417, the statement said GSPS.
