The man who climbed the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, DC Friday to protest the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade remained in his position for more than 24 hours before coming down on Saturday afternoon.
The protester, Guido Reichstadter, began climbing the bridge around 10 a.m. Friday, he reported. FOX 5 DC.
While Reichstadter was on top of the bridge, traffic stopped as officials tried to contact him.
Reichstadter planned to stay on top of the bridge as long as possible. Reaching the top of the bridge, his water bottle fell to the ground, leaving him without hydration.
He was arrested by police after leaving the bridge arch on Saturday afternoon, according to a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department.

Reichstadter hopes the acrobatics will inspire nationwide civil disobedience in response to the Supreme Court ruling.
“If I can get to the top of this ever-loving bridge, I know you can get to the street!” tweeted Friday. “Let’s shut it down without violence day after day until our rights are protected. I’ll be up here, a lot of love for everyone!”

Traffic on the bridge reopened to the public on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The arch of the bridge is 70 feet high.
In a tweet calling for help with the “nonviolent civil resistance movement for abortion rights,” Reichstadter indicated how his protest would likely end.

“I’ll be in jail soon, but I hope to get in touch when I get out,” he wrote.
