A woman caught and thrown on subway tracks in the Bronx

LONGWOOD, Bronx (WABC) – Police are continuing the search for a man who pushed a 52-year-old woman into the subway tracks in the Bronx, and are waiting for the surveillance video to lead to an arrest.

The woman suffered a fractured collarbone and cuts all over her body, but is expected to be fine.

The horrific incident, which took place at around 4.40pm on Sunday at Westchester Avenue / Jackson Avenue Underground Station in the Longwood section, was captured by camera.

Police say the unknown suspect suddenly grabbed the woman and threw her on the tracks heading south.

No train arrived and others at the station helped her get back to the platform.

She was transferred to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

Police said the suspect, wearing camouflage shorts, a white T-shirt, a hat on his back and a red backpack, fled the scene.

The incident is the latest in high-profile crime in the city’s traffic system, where a bus driver was stabbed and cut off by a passenger early Tuesday.

“We are looking for all possible ways to make people feel – and really are – safer than they are now, more secure than they are now,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “We’re looking at all the options. I have these conversations with the MTA leadership to talk about, are we doing everything humanly we can in a smart way, in a way that really works, to protect New Yorkers on the subway? These are part of our ongoing conversations. “

The MTA has talked about testing barriers to prevent subway congestion, but this is almost impossible on high platforms like the one that took place this incident.

“I don’t feel safe here,” Wali Deshawn said. “Because people get hurt, they get hurt, they do things like that. It’s crazy.”

The governor asked about metal detectors in the subway, but in this case, the suspect was not armed.

Both New York City police and MTA officials say the victim of the attack did not cooperate with either the police or hospital staff, refusing to tell them what was going on. pass or if you know the suspect.

Police say he has more than 30 previous arrests, many of them drug-related.

Anyone with information about the identity of these individuals is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, at 1-888-57 -PISTA (74782). The public can also post their tips by logging into the CrimeStoppers website or Twitter @NYPDTips.
