Adam Peaty has split from girlfriend Eirianedd Munro after three years together and apologized for “letting down” his partner and child.
The Olympic swimmer and former Strictly contestant, 27, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the sad news with his followers.
She said the couple had decided to “go their separate ways” but that their two-year-old son George remained her “priority”.

He wrote in the caption: “Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways.” We have enjoyed three wonderful years together, two of them with our precious son George.
“Our priority has always been to provide her with the happiest and healthiest family environment, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship.
“I couldn’t ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her incredible support over the past three years.

‘Eiri and George, I’m sorry to let you down. My only interest is the well-being of our family at this difficult time, so I ask that our privacy be respected and I will say nothing more.”
She also shared a statement on her Instagram story that read: “The past three years have been so, so amazing. Our little family has experienced so much laughter, love and joy. You guys have been such a huge part of it !
“This next chapter in my life is going to be incredibly difficult. I would appreciate it if people would refrain from commenting, speculating or messaging. I have shared so much of my life, but for now I am choosing privacy and I hope you all respect that.
Saying it: She also shared a statement on her Instagram story that read: “The last three years have been so, so amazing.”
“I love and thank you all so much and I’m so grateful for all the fun and opportunities you’ve given me. I’m going to take a break from social media so bye for now. Thank you so much for everything.’
It comes after a difficult year for the couple after Adam was paired with Katya Jones on Strictly last year, where the pair raised eyebrows with their chemistry on the dance floor.
Adam and Katya hit the headlines after fans thought they almost kissed at the end of a steamy routine.

After the incident, Eirianedd admitted she had been “very emotional” after her young athlete’s “close kiss” with Katya.
Eirianedd, 23, told fans she took a “short break” on social media after Adam and Katya got really close at the end of their racy Argentine tango last autumn.
The sportsman’s partner took to TikTok to thank their fans for their support, admitting she was “very emotional” after being caught up online following Adam’s TV performance.

She said: “I’ve had a bit of a break. I want to say thank you to everyone, it’s really emotional, everyone who’s been really nice to me because it’s been a lot last week.
“I mean I appreciate people. Even if it’s a thousand nice comments and one bad one, it’s so easy to feel like the world is against you, and it was like that for a while, and then I got a reality check and I remembered that I’m not that important.
“But you guys made me feel so much better, those who were checking me out and those who were commenting, I appreciate you.”
He jokingly added: “Thank you, you saved my life.”

Eirianedd was left “humiliated” after he “almost kissed” Katya on Strictly last year.
A source close to the artist revealed at the time that he hoped Katya had “no idea” about their close partnership, after posting a tongue-in-cheek TikTok showing her mimicking a song in which the vocalist will sing “kill the next girl with whom her boyfriend dances.

Adam’s girlfriend then shared a video on TikTok as she reacted to the dance with a clip of her pretending to cry along with the caption: “Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live TV.”
She then threw her head back in mock distress and added a second caption that read: “Finding out 10 million people watched it live too.”
After strong fan backlash from viewers about the near-flaming spirit, fellow Strictly contestant Dan Walker rushed to Adam’s defence.
The presenter told The Mirror: “Adam was last in the standings and he really wanted to… commit, so he was completely focused on the Olympics.
“I felt he did a brilliant job,” the BBC Breakfast host said.
