Alcester Road South closed for hours after a serious mobility scooter accident

A busy city street has been closed for several hours this Thursday, June 16 in the afternoon, after a collision with a mobility scooter. Alcester Road South in Kings Heath was closed from Wheelers Lane to Taylor Road.

The details of the collision were not known, but it happened near the intersection with Livingstone Road, Brandwood, shortly after 2.30pm. Traffic was diverted and the National Express West Midlands No.50 bus route was also affected.

Drivers were told to wait for delays and use alternative routes.

A West Midlands police spokesman said: “We have been called to a serious collision with a car and a mobility scooter on Alcester Road South, near the junction with Livingstone Road, Brandwood, shortly after 2 p.m. : 30 today (June 16) “There is currently a roadblock.”

The force was expected to report more details tomorrow, Friday.

A witness said: “There was a mobility scooter at the junction of Alcester Road South and Livingstone Road. A blue sheet was placed half on the sidewalk and half on the road.

“There are traffic officers around. There are some shoes next to the sheet. There is a gloomy mood and a lot of police activity.”

The stage was closed at around 7.30pm.
