A 45-year-old man has been jailed for nearly seven years after raping a student in Bristol. Mohsen Gheibi, of Stapleton Road in Easton, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison in Bristol Crown Court on Friday (June 10th) after being found guilty of raping the then 19-year-old woman in 2019.
The court learned how Gheibi had walked to the victim’s house with her, followed her to her bedroom, and raped her. The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, noticed that Gheibi was walking beside her, and when she got home and he followed her inside, she had “frozen in fear” and felt. out of control “.

She said: “The dreams I had where I felt I could do anything were now replaced by an incarnation of shame, disgust and hatred for myself. I was asleep, frozen in time as the world passed before me.
“I put my life on hold for three years to do justice. I’m no longer the same person I was. I’ve had to fight for my life, reshape it, and rebuild who I am from the ground up.”
He ended his statement by saying, “I hope no one goes through what I do, because I know I’m lucky to be alive today.”
The victim waited four days before reporting the rape to police because “she wasn’t sure anyone would believe her,” police said. But after appearing, officers were able to identify Gheibi and he was arrested six days later.
Investigating officer Detective Katrina Collier said: “Gheibi took advantage of a vulnerable 19-year-old woman at night and showed no remorse for her actions. Her actions have clearly devastated the last three years of the life of the victim and we hope that this sentence will give him the justice he deserves.
“He has shown great strength and courage in presenting himself and talking about the crime and the impact it has had on his life since that night.
“For victims of rape and sexual assault, it is incredibly difficult to come forward and report it, but we urge anyone who has been subjected to these terrible crimes to speak out, we will believe you and support you throughout the process.” .
