Apple has responded to one of the “most requested” changes to the iPhone while introducing a number of new updates, as well as a new MacBook.
Apple has unveiled a new feature set, which it announced today at its World Developers Conference at Apple Park in Cupertino.
Among the big revelations were a new MacBook Air model and a new iOS 16 operating system that finally sees the tech company implement some of its most anticipated features.
In response to the announcements, Apple shares rose 0.2% to $ 145.66 (USD) on Tuesday.
iOS 16 finally launches the “edit” and “undo” buttons.
In what could be one of Apple’s most requested changes, Apple unveiled on Tuesday (AEST) a new feature that will allow iPhone users to edit and cancel the sending of unfortunate iMessages.
In the moments after sending an iMessage, users will be able to click the “edit” or “undo send” buttons to modify their messages.
The features will be available with the new version of iOS. Apple has not yet announced the release date of the new operating system, which will be called iOS 16.

Craig Federighi, an Apple executive, said the “edit” and “undo send” buttons were one of the “most requested features for Messaging.”
Apple also unveiled a review of the iPhone lock screen during the conference. Users will now be able to create their own lock screens with custom fonts and add widgets for everything from time to NBA game results.
Notifications will now “enter” via a compact bar at the bottom of the lock screen instead of dominating the entire screen, Apple said.
In a press release, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, said the new iOS 16 operating system would completely change the way people experienced the iPhone.
“We’ve reimagined what the lock screen looks like and works with exciting new features that make it more personal and useful. we’ve taken advantage of enhanced intelligence with updates for Live Text and Visual Search, “he said.
Supercharged MacBook Air
Apple will also launch a completely redesigned MacBook Air, which will run on the M2 chip. The laptop has shrunk to include a larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a four-speaker sound system, up to 18 hours of battery life and MagSafe charging.
The new iteration of the 13-inch MacBook Air will also be available in four different finishes: silver, space gray, midnight and starlight, and prices start at $ 1899.
The updated 13-inch MacBook Pro will also receive the M2 update. Named the world’s second best-selling laptop, it includes 24GB of unified memory, ProRes acceleration and up to 20 hours of battery life.

Apple Pay Later
Apple also announced new privacy features, as well as new Apple Pay updates, including an “Apple Pay Later” system that will split purchases into several interest-free payments.

Elsewhere in the presentation, Apple introduced a new version of “CarPlay,” the interactive display system that combines with the vehicle’s display systems.
In addition to displaying traditional information such as maps and music, the new version of CarPlay will display information such as car speed and temperature.
Apple said a list of automakers such as Ford, Mercedes and Porsche were “excited” about the feature, although Elon Musk’s Tesla was noticeably absent from the list.
