The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed that an arrest has been made for the murder of Trina Hunt of Port Moody.

“No charges have been filed at this time. As such, the man’s name cannot be disclosed,” the IHIT sergeant said. David Lee on Friday. “This is an ongoing investigation and no further details can be provided.”

Hunt, 48, was last seen at his Heritage Woods home in January. Her husband reported her missing on January 18, 2021. She last saw her around 6 a.m. at her home while she was leaving for work, according to Port Moody police. By the time he got home, she was already gone, and friends think he might have gone for a walk.

His remains were discovered in Hope on March 29, 2021, south of Silver Creek.

In an email, Lee said the arrest was at a Port Moody house.

“Although an arrest has been made, if there are people with information, please contact IHIT. An arrest does not indicate the end of this investigation,” he said.

In a statement on a Facebook page set up to search for Hunt last year, his family announced with a “shattered heart” that the search had come to a tragic end with the discovery of his remains last March.

“We ask that you respect our privacy as we seek answers and clarity during this difficult time. We will always be grateful for your love through all of this,” the statement said.

“This community of friends, family and strangers (who now feel like friends) has been there to help us find Trina every step of the way. Your words, thoughts, kindness and overflow of love are really what we It’s been 3 1/2 months. We need your love and support more than ever. Thank you. “

Her family has offered a $ 50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charge.

In June last year, IHIT searched two houses as part of the investigation into his death. Police cordoned off and searched Hunt’s home in Port Moody, along with a Mission residence owned by Hunt’s husband’s parents, Iain.
