Kickoff: We’re underway at Lambeau Field! Can Bayern Munich beat Manchester City in pre-season?
Update no. 2: The game should start soon! Now you don’t have to wait much longer. We were very lucky there.
Update: Game delayed due to ground storms. It looks like Pep Guardiola and Julian Nagelsmann will have to wait a bit to match their wits. We’ll let you know when Bayern Munich kick off against Manchester City.
One hour to kick off – we’ve got lineups! Julian Nagelsmann chooses to start a very strong lineup consisting of most of his main starters. Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman start first for Bayern Munich, while the midfield is covered by Joshua Kimmich and Marcel Sabitzer. Benjamin Pavard and Alphonso Davies flank the centre-backs, where Matthijs de Ligt is curiously absent. In fact, all the new signings are missing today.
It seems the Nags want their veterans to play the first half, at least.
It’s only just begun, but the preseason is already underway, but not without at least one more big game on the schedule. Bayern Munich take on Manchester City at Lambeau Field in Wisconsin in a game that should give us a good idea of how both teams are shaping up for next season.
With both Bayern and City playing their respective domestic super cup matches in a week’s time, both teams should be at the same level of preparation. However, Julian Nagelsmann will be missing key players such as Leon Goretzka (injury) and Sadio Mane (in Germany) for the game, while Pep Guardiola will be looking to debut his brilliant new signing in Erling Haaland.
Looking ahead to the game, most people have the following questions:
- Can Bayern Munich score without Robert Lewandowski?
- Can Bayern’s midfield withstand Man City’s press?
- Can Bayern’s defense keep a clean sheet? (probably not)
As for the answers, we’ll just have to watch and find out.
