Liz Truss has moved away from Boris Johnson’s claim that President Putin’s “toxic masculinity” is to blame for the Ukraine war, calling it unhelpful.
The prime minister said yesterday that Putin would not have mounted his “crazy and sexist” invasion of Ukraine if she were a woman. Ben Wallace, the secretary of defense, said Putin was suffering from “little man syndrome.”
The foreign secretary told Times Radio that she would not “pretend” that she could do a psychological analysis of Putin and his motives. The Russian president revolted, noting that being a woman did not prevent Margaret Thatcher from sending forces to the Falklands in 1982.
