An eight-year-old boy who was pulled from a community lake in Calgary has died in hospital, police say.

EMS transported the boy to Alberta Children’s Hospital, accompanied by a firefighter who continued CPR.
In a press release on Wednesday, police said the boy, identified only as Raviansh, died at the hospital as a result of suffocation.
The drowning is considered non-criminal and police released a statement on behalf of the boy’s family.
“Our family is experiencing the deepest grief and pain as we deal with the sudden and tragic loss of our son,” the family said in the statement. “Raviansh was an amazing, loving boy and brought so much joy to our hearts. As a precious son and little brother, we loved him dearly, and will miss him dearly.”
