I know it’s been nine months, but honestly I’m still excited about the announcement that Chris Pratt will give voice to Mario in Mario’s upcoming film. How the hell will this sound ???
Pratt, at least, seems to think it will be something special. “I worked very closely with the directors and trying a few things and I came up with something that I’m very proud of and I can’t wait for people to see and hear,” Pratt said in an interview with Variety. “It’s a lively voice-over narration. It’s not a live action movie. I won’t wear a plumber’s dress everywhere. I’m providing a voice for an animated character, which is updated and doesn’t look like everything you’ve heard before in Mario’s world. “
Nintendo, please, release a trailer
This last sentence seems to mean that Pratt will not imitate the icon of Charles Martinet on the famous Nintendo plumber. Even though we already knew it, now I’m even more curious to know how Pratt gives life to Mario.
Still, according to a recent statement from Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, I may not be entirely excited about the end result. “When people listen to Chris Pratt’s performance, the criticism evaporates, maybe not at all; people love to express their opinions, as they should,” he said, according to Deadline. When we finally hear Pratt’s Mario interpretation, I, and I guess literally every other Twitter user, will almost certainly express an opinion.
Mario’s film was due to release in December, but was recently delayed. It will now debut on April 7 in North America and April 28 in Japan. The cast also includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser. Although Martinet does not star in Mario, he will appear in “surprise cameos.”
