Well, that’s remarkable! Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion was announced overnight as a remaster of the classic PSP game, but only now are we beginning to appreciate how big the update is. The original was obviously limited by the capabilities of the Sony handheld console, but what’s on display here opens up the precipice of a remake.
Now, obviously, this is ultimately the same game: slot machines and everything. But the upgrade is absolutely insane: it’s so much more than a higher-resolution portable port, with new textures, lighting, and even artistic adjustments. The developer has even tweaked the original CGI scenes, altering the look of the Buster Sword to match that of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
In terms of actual gameplay, the user interface has been redesigned and the camera has been altered to allow for greater control. It really is an amazing shine!
