Among the many things that were missing from the vision of the future of Cyberpunk 2077, the inability to fly around the city with any type of vehicle seemed a great oversight. While there are a number of scripted sequences that will take you in floating / flying airborne vehicles, players can’t pilot them, other than a game like Grand Theft Auto has had for decades, which Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t include.
Enter modders, once again.
As always, the Cyberpunk 2077 modding community continues to have exceptional talent, and now there’s a new flying car mod called “Let There be Flight” that inserts hovercars into the game. Not just cars that can fly, but once redesigned to have real thrusters, Blade Runner-like engine sounds and custom controls to get around.

The mod was released just under two weeks ago and is continually improving. Plans are to expand the concept to more in-game vehicles.
I highly doubt that even with the next major DLC coming to Cyberpunk, we will see flying vehicles there. The game is very restricted to cars and bikes, and its transportation options seem to have been something that was drastically reduced in scope when the game came out. There are not even NPC motorcycles, only the player can go there. There’s also an unfinished rail system that ended up being finished and developed by, you guessed it, modders.
However, I really like the flying car mod, as it emits very different vibrations from Blade Runner 2049 and does not break the dive, as this is a period of time that has flying boats, we just can’t make them fly to ourselves. the game. Something to think about for the inevitable sequel, I guess.
For now, I remain relatively detached from Cyberpunk until another major patch arrives or DLC marketing expands, which is supposed to happen before the end of the year. We’ll see what that brings, but the most interesting additions may still end up being changes like this for a while.
