Emmerdale actor Andy Devine has died at the age of 79.
The soap star, who was born Peter Devine, was best known for playing Shadrach Dingle for ten years on ITV.
He died in January, without knowing the cause of death, but the tragic news has just been made public.

Public records confirm that Andy died on January 27, reports The Sun.
Andy played Shadrach in Emmerdale between 2000 and 2010, until his character was murdered as part of a story of alcohol abuse.
His beloved character died in an emotional episode in July that saw him drown tragically in a stream in the Valls.
He was the husband of Faith Dingle and the father of Chas Dingle and Gennie Walker, and was often involved in near-accidents for nearly a decade in the soap.

He also appeared in several episodes of the Doctor Who Frontier In Space story, playing a draconian guard and playing Bernard on the Channel 4 series Queer As Folk.
Before beginning his acting career, he served in the Royal Navy in the 1960s.
Tributes to Twitter came Monday after the news broke, with a fan writing: “It’s sad to know that Andy Devine (Shadrach Dingle in Emmerdale) is dead. What an actor (and character). ‘
