Otmar Szafnauer has warned that Alpine could protest Lewis Hamilton’s car after Mercedes tried a new stay at the plant during the Canadian Gramd Prix.
It comes after the FIA issued a new technical directive to try to control porpoise problems.
Szafnauer said: “It could be that we are not running this in the race classification. If the teams have taken these stays, I would imagine that maybe they could be watched and protested.
“It’s against regulation as it is today. We definitely don’t have it. And unfortunately, if you have an extra stay, you can get out of the car and get more out of it.”
