Final Fantasy 16 will be released in the summer of 2023

Final Fantasy 16 finally has a release window for the summer of 2023.

Naoki Yoshida presented a new game trailer on PlayStation State of Play that you can see below, which gave us a new look at the game’s story and gameplay.

In particular, he showed the cast of game calls, or Eikons, as they are known, their names sung to music if you listen carefully: Phoenix, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Odin, Bahamut and Ifrit.

The trailer showed the colossal characters fighting each other, maybe even controlled by the player. It is clear that the Eikons will play an important role in both the game and the story.

He also showed more of the main character Clive fighting solo against various enemy soldiers, using both the sword and the elemental skills of Eikonic Strike. It certainly seems more focused on action than the series before.

There were also interviews of its medieval setting, the political history of great wars and intrigues, and even a touch of romance.

“Wake up son of fate, wake up Ifrit,” says a voice at the end of the trailer, focusing on Clive’s face. Could Clive’s fate be tied to Ifrit, in the same way that young Joshua is linked to Phoenix?

A PlayStation blog post reveals additional information about Titan and Garuda Dominants. The awakening of Hugo Kupka as Titan Eikon’s Dominant “put him at the forefront of Dhalmekian politics” and in his role as permanent economic adviser.

Benedikta Harman is the dominant Eikon Garuda, the Guardian of the Wind, who is looking for the “second dodging Fire Eikon”. Presumably this is Clive.

“Thank you for waiting so long,” Yoshida said, referring to the impact of the pandemic.

“Even though the world is in turmoil, we will continue to focus on what we do best: play games. Because if, through entertainment, we can offer people something they can really enjoy, Maybe we can give him some happiness. These are difficult times. ”
