Forspoken gets a rating of 18 in Europe, suggesting that the release date will remain the same

Forspoken just got an age rating here in Europe from PEGI (it’s the region’s rating board, for those who may not know it). He is 18, which is equivalent to ‘Mature’ in the US. PEGI’s description highlights mature issues such as suicide, alcohol consumption, and strong language. It’s no surprise to see Forspoken slapped with an 18, but there are wider implications.

In fact, the fact that the game has been rated suggests that development is nearing its final stage and that its current release date, October 11, will be maintained. Earlier this week there was a rather fragile rumor that Square Enix could delay Forspoken to make way for Final Fantasy XVI, but that always seemed a bit unrealistic. Certainly not impossible, but it would be a strange move for a company that has already drawn up its marketing plans for the rest of 2022.

Anyway, are you looking forward to Forspoken? We’re still a little skeptical of what we’ve seen of the project – the game has some serious tech-show vibes, but there’s still plenty of time for the updated images to surprise us. Let us know if you have the same in the comments section below.
