Kenny Goss has been open about the death of his ex George Michael in his first interview in five years and has admitted that he “really tried” to save the singer’s life.
Wham star George tragically died of heart disease on Christmas Day 2016 at the age of 53.
Speaking about his death in an exclusive interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, art dealer Kenny, 63, said he was not surprised by his loved ones.

He said he was “concerned” about George when they lived together during their open relationship from 1996 to 2009. They separated in part because of substance abuse and alcoholism, which both of them suffered.
In a rare interview, Kenny explained, “We all expected him to die. It had been a long time since we had lived together, worried about him.
“I honestly hated the fact that I cared so much about him. What is the phrase he says in one of his songs? He says, ‘I see it in your eyes when you look at me like that, it breaks me in two.’ I just didn’t know what to do.
“I was worried about him all the time. Please don’t say it the wrong way, if you love someone you’re worried about her,” she added.
Relationship: Kenny and George (pictured 2005) had an open relationship from 1996 to 2009. They separated in part due to substance abuse and alcoholism.
The businessman went on to say that George credited him with saving his life, and Kenny said he “really tried.”
“What I always notice is that he spent a lot more time being incredibly happy with him than worrying about him,” he added.
“He always said I saved his life. I think it’s a little too much, but I really tried.”
Reflecting on his relationship with George, Kenny described him as “one of the most honest people I’ve ever met” and said that everyone always knew the truth about the singer.
Kenny also said he didn’t think George had ever considered himself “handsome,” but he did know that he was a “talented man and a good composer.”

He continued: “I don’t think he ever thought he had a good time in his life. I’ve always tried to remind him or say, ‘You’re fine today. You’re a handsome man. “
“It was very difficult for him … People would think he would have a much higher sense of, ‘Hey, I’m a handsome guy.’
“But what I did know was that he was a talented man and a good composer. I mean he was a good man.
“He was one of the most wonderful men in the world,” he added.
Speaking of their open relationship, Kenny confessed that George was “probably more open” than the two of them as he spoke about his love for the composer.
Support: The businessman said George (both pictured in May 2004) credited him with saving his life, and Kenny said he “really tried” to do so.
Kenny revealed that George chose him as a partner to try to “please his mother” and said he had many similarities with Lesley.
“He had this vision that his mother and I were very similar. And in many ways we were,” he said.
“I’d say I’m a lot more of a guy who plays by the rules and she was kind of the same way. I don’t judge anything either.”
Reflecting on his relationship and George’s battle with drugs, Kenny said he didn’t like being labeled “long suffering,” adding, “I really tried to always be for him and he knew it.”
Kenny was a muse in George’s songwriting and during a 2014 tour, George told his fans that he had written the song Where I Hope You Are, which he admitted was inspired by his breakup.
Star: Kenny also said he didn’t think George (pictured in September 2012) had ever considered himself “handsome,” but that he knew he was a “talented man.”
Reflecting on George’s songs about him, Kenny said he has started reading the lyrics to the songs as he didn’t remember the words at all.
He explained: “Honestly, I can tell you that I don’t remember the words of the songs he wrote about me. It’s a shame.
“Since he died, I’ve started reading the lyrics. In fact, I started doing it before he died.
Kenny has rarely talked about George’s death, but in 2017, it opened in the Dallas Morning News about the couple’s relationship, which ended in 2009 and was announced in 2011.
He said, “We just had a really good, sweet relationship. We weren’t even angry with each other or anything like that. He was really the love of my life. And I think I was the one. ‘love of his life.
Following the singer’s death on Christmas Day 2016, Kenny issued a touching statement of mourning to her former lover.
“I am heartbroken by the news that my longtime dear friend and lover George Michael has passed away,” he wrote. It was an important part of my life and I loved it very, very much. He was an extremely kind and generous man.
“The beautiful memories and music he brought to the world will always be an important part of my life and those who have also loved and admired him.”
Musa: Reflecting on George’s songs about him, Kenny (both pictured in November 2007) said he started reading the lyrics because he couldn’t remember the words.
Last year, Kenny struck a financial deal with Michael’s trustees after a lengthy court battle.
Texan Kenny had demanded cash from the singer’s £ 97 million property, while the pop superstar’s family is said to have promised, “He won’t get a penny.”
Kenny had wanted payments of £ 15,000 a month, claiming Michael had financially supported him, even though they had separated years earlier.
He also questioned the ex-Wham! the mood of the singer when he signed his will in 2013.
The agreement he reached with trustees Christopher Organ and Michael’s sister, Panayiota Panayiotou, known as Yioda, 62, is confidential.
