A Melbourne grandmother has described how she is afraid to leave home after being punched in the face and threatened on the street.
Virginia Beckworth, 79, was getting out of her car on Walker Street in Dandenong, south-east Melbourne, shortly before 10am on Tuesday 14 June, when a man approached her asking for money. .
The 12-year-old grandmother said that when she told the man she had no money, he threatened her and punched her in the face, making her fly around the car.

He said he was caught just before he fell to the ground.
“I feared for my life, I really did,” Beckworth said.
After the attack, he took refuge in a nearby barber shop.
Barber Toros Ashnalian said Beckworth was “screaming and crying” when he arrived at the store.

She was then taken to Dandenong Hospital to be treated for a concussion.
He suffered bruises and swelling, severe headaches and hearing loss.
The assault took place a few weeks after she underwent ear surgery.
Beckworth has said she is now afraid to go out in public as she is being chased by the incident.
“It’s at night when I go to bed I close my eyes and I immediately see his face coming towards me,” he said.
She desperately hopes the police can locate him and prevent him from attacking anyone else.
Beckworth has described the man as tall as 183 inches tall with a large complexion and wearing a lime green cap.
