A police investigation is underway after a body was found in Esquimalt Lagoon Thursday morning, according to West Shore RCMP.
Around 11:30 a.m., Mounties responded to a report of a dead person found in the water in Colwood.
In a news release, the RCMP said the circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
The person’s identity was not released.
“No further information can be provided pending notification of next of kin,” said Const. West Shore RCMP spokeswoman Meghan Groulx.
Groulx said a section of Ocean Boulevard, closed to the public to give emergency crews room to investigate, has since reopened.
The death is also being investigated by the BC Coroner’s Service.
