Bench coach Rob Thomson will serve as Interim Filines coach until the end of the season.
“It’s been a frustrating season for us so far as we feel our club hasn’t lived up to its capabilities,” Dombrowski said. “Although we all share the responsibility for the shortcomings, I felt that a change was needed and that a new voice in the clubhouse would give us the best opportunity to change things. I think we have a talented group that can recover. “Track, and I’m sure Rob, with his experience and familiarity with our club, is the right man to guide us forward.”
Girardi took over the management of the Filis before the 2020 season. In more than two seasons as the boss of the Filis, including the 2020 season shortened by the pandemic, Girardi’s team accumulated a record of 132-141 and never it came in the postseason.
Girardi previously led the New York Yankees from 2008 to 2017. He led the team to a World Series title in 2009. As a player, Girardi won three World Series rings.
