Police have interviewed and released a woman allegedly involved in a crash that claimed the life of a three-year-old boy in west Melbourne.

Ethan Nguyen died at the hospital after being hit by a car on Thursday evening.
Police said yesterday it looked like the three-year-old was running towards McIntyre Road in Sunshine North around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police believe Ethan was dragged under the car between 20 and 30 meters outside a family daycare.
Police said the driver of the sedan did not stop at the scene.
A 73-year-old woman from Heathcote Junction turned herself in to police on Friday morning following a public call for help finding the driver.

Police confirmed on Friday afternoon that the woman had been interviewed by detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit.
His sedan was confiscated and will be subject to forensic tests.
“She was later released pending further investigation,” a spokesman said.

A police spokesman said that “the investigation into the collision is still active and ongoing.”
On Friday, Superintendent John Fitzpatrick said the three-year-old’s family had a broken heart.
“Losing a child as beautiful as this will be devastating,” he said.
