Jurgen Klopp ignored Steven Gerrard’s transfer tips with a bold Liverpool plot

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp seems willing to ignore some of the transfer tips Steven Gerrard gave to his old team last month after an agreement was reached for Aberdeen prospect Calvin Ramsey.

After approaching an unprecedented quadruple last season, Liverpool have splashed the money this summer to try to evolve their squad.

The Reds quickly got out of the trap of catching Fulham star Fabio Carvalho before diverting interest from some of Europe’s top hitters to a £ 85m deal for Benwin’s Darwin Núñez. Jurgen Klopp’s team are also set to bring Aberdeen’s young and promising right-back Calvin Ramsey to Anfield for an initial £ 4 million to conclude a busy couple of weeks.

But Mirror football understands that the deal for Ramsey will end Liverpool’s summer business. The Reds were in the market for another midfielder, and even made a substantial bid for Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni; however, the midfielder opted to seal a dream change at Real Madrid instead of joining the team that won last month’s Champions League final.

Liverpool make the decision to transfer summer when Jurgen Klopp plots Jude Bellingham’s plan Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plan for Calvin Ramsay after Liverpool agree to transfer

Liverpool have named Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham as the ideal player to run the Reds’ engine room for the future. But with the English prodigy currently considered unattainable, Liverpool plan to wait their turn for the 18-year-old, although that strategy could leave the Reds short in the middle of the field in the short term.

This is exactly what happened last season. Only 12 months after the crisis of unprecedented defensive injuries that turned out to be a terminal for the Reds’ hopes of defending their Premier League title in the 2020/21 campaign, Klopp found himself with a lack of options in the middle of the field. And if the injuries pile up again, then Liverpool could fall short again in their bid to fight the national crown away from Manchester City.

With Núñez coming to Anfield and Erling Haaland joining City, the two Premier League titans look set to re-lock their horns for next year’s biggest European awards; although Liverpool’s powers will be substantially weakened by the imminent departure of Sadio Mané. Obviously, the arrival of Núñez will soften this time, but there are no guarantees that the Uruguayan striker will fit in the highest category as perfectly as the recruit of January Luis Díaz.

Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool should sign a scoring midfielder (

Red icon Steven Gerrard warned last month that the Reds are too dependent on their attacking options and need a goal-scoring midfielder capable of easing the burden of his coveted offensive contingent.

And with Liverpool on the verge of making their biggest changes in years in attack, Gerrard’s transfer notice carries additional weight. But the Reds have still decided to put their search for an elite midfielder in the background for 12 months. This is a bold strategy, and it has the scope to pursue the net season of the Reds and Klopp.

Speaking after the final Champions League defeat last month, Gerrard said: “Jordan Henderson and James Milner are not getting younger. They are still top players at this level, of course, and they will want to continue. and more for Liverpool, if you think about the next five, six, seven years, they will need a midfielder, an eight, who can score goals, who can get double figures.

“It depends a lot on the three forwards, or the five forwards if you include Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino. You always need one of these midfielders who will go into the area and score goals for you.”
