It’s not often to see a former NFL MVP get on Twitter with a former Super Bowl champion, but that’s exactly what happened this week with Lamar Jackson and Bernard Pollard.
The Twitter dispute began shortly after ESPN published its list of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL. After Jackson didn’t make the list, Ryan Clark came on defense.
Clark thought Jackson should have been ranked in the top 10, but Pollard disagreed with him, and once Jackson found out about it, the fight officially began.
While Pollard said Jackson deserves the best dollar, that was the only positive thing he had to say about Jackson. After that tweet, he sent another in which he mentioned that no receiver would ever want to play with Jackson because “he’s not capable of making the throws.”
As you can imagine, Jackson was NOT too kind to this comment, and that’s when the feud really started to move forward.
First, Jackson said Pollard was dumb.
Jackson then pointed out that he had never heard of Pollard and that he had to search Google to find out who he was arguing with.
Although Pollard spent nine seasons in the NFL and even won a Super Bowl, most NFL fans remember him as the guy who injured Tom Brady during Week 1 of the 2008 NFL season.
Pollard’s Super Bowl victory came with the Ravens in 2012, and while he got a ring, Jackson was quick to point out that Pollard didn’t do much in the actual game.
Jackson also said he remembered one of Pollard’s bad plays in the game.
Although Pollard only had two tackles in the Super Bowl, he led the entire team in tackles during the 2012 season while playing for a Ravens defense that included Hall of Fame members Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.
Pollard responded to Super Bowl insults by telling Jackson to contact him so he could teach the Ravens quarterback to read a defense.
Jackson closed things off by making sure everyone on Twitter knows he doesn’t respect Pollard.
As for Pollard, he limited himself to breaking Jackson’s football skills.
The fight seems to have gone out for now, but it would not be surprising if we saw that this war of words continues. Also, thanks to this feud, things could definitely get awkward this season if the Ravens decide to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their last Super Bowl victory by inviting Pollard and the other players to M&T Bank Stadium for a game.
