Larry Storch, who memorably played Corporal Randolph Agarn in the ABC F Troop comedy of the mid-1960s, died on July 8, six months before his 100th birthday.
The actor’s death was announced on his official Facebook page.
“It is with the heaviest heart that we share with you the news that our beloved Larry died during the night,” the message says. “Right now we are surprised and speechless. Please remember that he loved each and every one of you and I would not want you to mourn his death. He is reunited with his wife Norma and his beloved cast of F Troop and so many friends and family. “
Issued for two seasons (September 1965 to April 1967), F Troop followed Ken Berry’s Captain Wilton “Wil” Parmenter, who after accidentally becoming a “hero” was put in charge of Fort Courage, an outpost of the U.S. Army in the Old West. Corporal Randolph Agarn of Storch was the mad companion of Forrest Tucker’s enterprising Sergeant O’Rourke.
Storch also occasionally played similar relatives of Agarn, including Russian, Franco-Canadian, and Mexican cousins.
Prior to joining F troops, Storch repeated on Car 54, Where Are You? and did voice work for series such as Out of the Inkwell and Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales. Meanwhile, her countless TV commercials included (but were not limited to!) I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart, Gomer Pyle: USMC, the cruise comedy The Queen and I, The Love Boat and Love, American Style .
Storch also featured the early ’70s animated series The Brady Kids and the 1975 live action The Ghost Busters, which reunited him with F Troop’s Tucker.
Storch’s last television appearances included playing himself in a 1995 episode of Married… With Children and inviting a 1996 episode of Days of Our Lives.
